About Modafinil - Generic Provigil / Modalert
Modafinil - Generic Provigil / Modalert is a prescription medicine used to improve wakefulness in adults who experience excessive sleepiness (ES) due to one of the following diagnosed sleep disorders: obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), shift work sleep disorder, also known as shift work disorder, or narcolepsy. In patients with OSA, Modafinil is used along with other medical treatments for this sleep disorder. Modafinil is not a replacement for your current treatment. Consult your doctor about the importance of continuing your current OSA treatment while taking Modafinil. It is also a memory-improving and mood-brightening psychostimulant. It enhances wakefulness and vigilance by changing the amounts of certain natural substances in the area of the brain that controls sleep and wakefulness. However, its pharmacological profile is notably different from the amphetamines, methylphenidate (Ritalin) or cocaine.

Modafinil Dosage and Administration
Take one 100mg tablet for a period of up-to 8-hours stimulation, once or twice daily. Avoid use in the evening.

Modafinil Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning
Current research suggests Modafinil, like its older and better-tested analogue adrafinil, is a safe, effective and well-tolerated agent. It is long-acting and doesn't tend to cause peripheral sympathetic stimulation.

Modafinil comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day with or without food. If you are taking Modafinil to treat narcolepsy or OSAHS, you will probably take it in the morning. If you are taking Modafinil to treat shift work sleep disorder, you will probably take it 1 hour before the beginning of your work shift. Take Modafinil at the same time every day. Do not change the time of day that you take Modafinil without talking to your doctor. Talk to your doctor if your work shift does not begin at the same time every day.
